"Honey Pot" First Birthday Cake Smash

There is no greater honor, in my opinion, than getting to watch a family grow through my lens. For this kiddo, and his brother, I've done just that. Matter of fact, I photographed his momma and daddy's wedding and many family sessions before that. I am grateful this family continues to trust me behind the lens, year after year, for all their photography needs: family sessions, cake smashes, best friend sessions, and much more.

When Elijah's mom reached out about booking a Cake Smash Session, I was all ears. We started discussing his first birthday theme and decided to extend that into his cake smash. His mom and I agreed, the session should take place outdoors, to fit the theme and she gave me full creative control, showing up the day of the session with no clue what to expect. Of course, I had given a few sneak peeks during my creative process, but she hadn't seen everything put together. Upon arrival, they were in awe.

During the photo shoot, Elijah was a total HAM in front the camera. From the moment he sat down, he was all smiles and laughing. He enjoyed playing patty cake and peak-a-boo. A total 360 from his brother, who was serious business, during his cake smash session.

Then came cake!

When I tell you, this little dude DOVE into his cake the moment it was placed in front of him. He was not playing around, face first, one big bite! He was so proud of himself too, probably because myself, his momma, and his aunt were hardcore cheering him on.

The Finale

When he was done, over went the cake, and boom a third of it was gone.
