#1 Growth.
My number one answer to this question is growth. Growth is the process of developing or maturing physically, mentally, or spiritually. You, as an individual, a family, and a person are always growing and changing.
Growth is different for everyone at any given time. For you, it may look like:
- graduating high school
- graduating college
- finding your soulmate
- an engagement
- getting married
- a pregnancy
- childbirth
- work promotions
- retirements
- vacations... and everything in between
Don't miss out on any aspect of how you are growing and changing.
#2 Memories.
Some of my greatest treasures are looking back through pictures of my mine and my husbands' childhood. I love to compare the pictures to current pictures of our daughter. Which characteristics did she get from me? Which characteristics did she get from my husband? Are there periods of time when she looks exactly like him or myself, but not the other?
I don't remember what happened in my life when I was 3, pictures are the only thing left. As Karl Lagerfeld once said, "What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that's gone forever; impossible to reproduce". Photographs, even the ones you get once per year by a professional, are so important.
